The True Meaning of Certain Latin Phrases

There are many sites on the web that give translations of Latin phrases.  I will not provide any links, because here you will learn their real meaning.

Ars gratia artis: Arthur has round heels. 

 

Carpe diem: Complain about the travel allowance.

 

E pluribus unum:  Oy, all the buses come at the same time.

 

In hoc signo vinces: Vincent pawned his placard.

 

Magnum opus: Watch out, the penguin packs a pistol.

 

Quod erat demonstrandum: Your thigh is showing.

 

Semper fidelis:  Castro is a brownnose.

 

Sic transit gloria mundi: After last weekend, Ms. Steinem threw up on the subway.

 

Sub rosa: Ms. Parks can’t come, find somebody else.
